Once again Kan Gao pulls off another game that has a charming story and emotional soundtrack

User Rating: 8 | A Bird Story PC

As I much love To The Moon for an Indie title on Steam once again Freebird games have crafted yet another memorable game that has a unique and charming story taking place between the mix of a boy’s memories, dream, and imagination. Like To The Moon it has the same similar visuals and 8-bit sprite animation throughout the whole game the story is told without dialogue.

With there being no dialogue including very basic and simple gameplay you are only using the directional buttons to move and the space bar to jump you are controlling the boy and guiding him to help a bird from a broken arm, the more you play you understand why he cares about the bird including his imagination being told too. Music and audible cues play a role in the storytelling, often setting the tone and helping bolster the emotion in different scenes.

A Bird Story does challenge many ideas and examples on how a basic game should be made you might end up clearing the game within an hour or more but it can also be good game to those who don't play many games as often or are not into gaming at all where you can easily relax and dive into a basic and simple without a complicated story or have to memorise buttons or controls. I look forward to see what Kan Gao will pull off next for his next game in the future.
