All the Nostalgia of the Original TV Special

The Charlie Brown Christmas App for the iPad (also available for Android devices) tells the story of the Charlie Brown Christmas interactively. Each page has a section for you to listen to the characters recite their lines, the dialogue on the bottom of the screen. On each page there is also a scavenger hunt of sorts, if you interact with certain pieces of the background you will receive an ornament, the goal is to collect them all.

The graphics are quite good, the animation a little choppy at times. The game play is intuitive, though I didn't realise there were ornaments to collect, and just flipped through the story happily. The voices are exactly those from the TV special, making it the perfect piece of nostalgia for any Peanuts fan.

During the holidays, the price of the app was dropped to $2.99 in the iTunes store, but Starbucks gave it away as the App of the Week earlier this month (December 2012), which is when I got it. Free is a great price, but after playing the Christmas App, I bought the Halloween one for $2.99 as well. Overall, for the price, the App is well worth it and probably perfect for all ages.
