Short artistic flash game with an interesting game mechanic

User Rating: 7.5 | A House in California PC
This short game is available to play on Kongregate and other flash gaming sites. It has a point and click style, similar to that of the original Monkey Island. The style is retro pixilated graphics, but they are very well done, and it fits with the minimalist style of the game generally.
The task is to bring the house to life by collecting certain items, but the twist is the navigation technique. Reading or writing, looking and listening sometimes navigate to different locations, adding to the dreamlike feel of the story.
The game is very short, and easy for people who have played point and click adventure games before, although I can see how some actions are not obvious, and you have to resort to performing every action on every object. Fortunately as there are only a few objects in each location, this does not take long with a systematic approach. Some funny descriptions can be gained from "forgetting" the character for instance...
Overall, this is an interesting artistic point and click, which is worth playing particularly if you like short story based games, or artistic games such as "I Wish I Were the Moon".
