It innovates, but it feels like a PS2 game

User Rating: 4 | A Way Out PS4

The bond between the protagonists is weird. They barely know each other to trust enough, and are suddenly easily escaping the prison together. Also, how likely would it be for 2 prisoners who hate the same man to be cell neighbors? Additionally, where are Leo's (who's been there for 6 months before the game starts) "friends"? It feels like he's been there alone all the time. There's not much story behind the characters whatsoever.

The AI is horrible. The way the enemies move is predictable and easy to track.

The animations are even worse. Everything looks robustic, especially when knocking an enemy out.

Moreover, police officers are easily fooled by our words during interactions.

The graphics then... I'd better not comment.

The gameplay... well, there are some puzzles, but again, they're too easy, and most actions are actually QTEs, which makes it more like a movie than an actual game.

The only upside about A Way Out is that despite the game being way behind its generation in terms of quality, it's still possible to have fun, just for the fact that we rarely have co-op games nowadays. It feels great to play a campaign with friends.
