A truly cunning and satisfying game.
Playing as Edgeworth, Phoenix's cunning opponent, works surprisingly well. His gentlemanly ways are very different from Phoenix's casual behavior, but he still turns out to be a great protagonist. Kay Faraday fills in the role of the crucial female sidekick and then there's Gumshoe which is also a great companion, although sometimes he gets a bit too goofy for my tastes. The other new characters are full of charisma and altogether make a great new cast.
The story is just as great as the other Ace Attorney games, with the usual unexpected 'turnabouts' and the 5 cases which form the game are all connected in one way or another.
The new gameplay elements work perfectly, which this time around don't revolve around over-natural capabilities but just plain logic, and this actually makes every success much more satisfying.
And then there's the music. Absolutely perfect. They fit every situation just fine and you'll still be whistling long after the game ends.
So, in conclusion, everyone should get this game. It's not directly tied to the previous games, so those who are new to the series will still learn to love every single part of the game. As for hardcore Ace Attorneys, buy two copies just in case.
