Good controls, Beautiful planes, and 18 levels of fun. What more do you want? And the $10 tag doesn't hurt either.
Graphics in this are amazingly good, considering it's 7 years old now. Now, the ground is nothing to rave about, but this is a flyer; It has the graphic splendor where it's needed.
The aircraft are gorgeous. Simply astounding, once again considering it's age. You get 21 planes, and while it may not be as much as other flight sims out there, it packs more of a punch with them. Representing the big industries of aeronautics, you choose from well known aircraft like the F-14 Tomcat and F-15 Eagle, and of course the F-22A Raptor, as well as some Russian planes, like the Su-37 and Su-47. It covers the respective areas of fighters, from your anti ground jets to your air superiority fighters, it's got all you'll need.
Now, of course following the Ace Combat rule of "More missiles = More fun", every plane has roughly 80 or more missiles mounted on their slim exteriors. Not too realistic.
Another small problem is the enemy AI. When you first enter a dogfight, it's a sweat inducing ride that ends with you finally exhaling. After that, it's the same affair : Dodge, fire missiles, swear when they miss, shoot some bullets, swear as you miss again, level out, fire missiles, explosion!...Repeat. Also, sometimes (The Yellow planes, the bad guy aces) can just hover in the air. Not a glitch, they fly like that. Kind of annoying.
Other than those small quirks, it's a true testament to the power of the Ace Combat series. Definitely a must have for flying fans, and those who have $10 to spend on a good time.
