Pretty doesn't make it playable - disappointing

So there I was...wishing for a reason to hook up my HOTAS stick for a little fun. For years people have spoken highly of the Ace Combat series as a fun loving combat arcade simulation. Now with a chance to play something fun, I was happy for an opportunity to try out the series on the PC. The game is pretty, but just unimaginative (very scripted) and stifled (hand-cuffed). Really - You cant shoot certain bad guys with certain weapons? Or you have to be in "Dogfight" mode? Despite this, it was fun to just look around on the replay at the environment. But it wasn't enough for me to play coop or multiplayer. Some people told me that this inst what previous versions of series is like on the console (I had heard that you could do some crazy stuff and still accomplish the mission). This may be a blessing because I would recommend someone play HAWX before dropping good money on this. Hopefully they will go back to basics IF there is a next time. Seriously, there are days when I don't have time to play Falcon or DCS A-10 and just want to blow something up - and kill some bad guys. Bottom Line: in less than 24 hours from when I installed the game, it was off my my machine. Game Over.
