If you want to play online in a WWII setting, give this one a try. This game has a very steep learning curve, and a working knowledge of flight simulation is necessary to make learning it a little easier. But they have a very good staff of Trainers online, who will help you learn the game. At any rate, the FREE 2 week trial for the online area's is worth a try. Then if you want to stay online in the Main Area, requires a subscribtion fee of about $15.00/month. And to top it off, you can download the game for FREE (get it here at Gamespot). And there is the offline area and the head to head area's (a smaller online area, limited to 8 players per room) that are FREE to use even if you don't want to subscribe. And now for the nitty gritty (or nuts and bolts, if you will). Even though I've only played this game for a couple of months, I'm hooked on it. And if you should try it, you'll get a hearty "Welcome to the Addiction" from the hundreds of players online ( and you will hear them speak to you and vise verse). The flight and ground vehicle models are as excactly recreated as possible. The availabillity of custom paint jobs are numerous (within WWII specs). There are 3 sides you can choose to fight for, the Bishops, the Rooks, or the Knights (of which I am a Knight). And if you can demonstrate some skill or the willingness to learn, you might get invited to join a Squadron. Or you can form your own sqaudron. There are numerous aircraft (too many to name then all) to fly from fighters to bombers to cargo planes. Many ground vehicles to drive from trucks to tanks and even watercraft (PT boats, LVT's, and Aircraft Carriers). And all aircraft and vehicles from the major powers of WWII (USA, Britain, Russia, Germany, Italy and Japan) are available to all 3 sides. The gameplay I rated a 7 only because of the steep learning curve, but the playability is almost excellent. The graphics I rated 7 because of the low quality of the terrains, but they (Hi-Tech Creations) are making steady improvements to the graphics. The sound is of good quality, almost like you are next to or in the real machine a solid 8. The value I gave a 9 for it's FREE availability and very low monthly subscrition rate after the FREE 2 week trial. And the reviewers tilt, I gave a solid 10, because as I said, this game is addictive and you too, will be hooked (line and sinker). And the community and comradery of the players (of all ages, boys and girls, men and women) is some of the best you'll ever meet online.
This game should be far more popular than it is - it's incredibly realistic, has pleasing graphics that manage to run on any system, and has a fairly good player base so that no matter what hour of the day you sign on, y... Read Full Review
I've been playing Aces High off and on since 2001. Usually, I play for about a 6 month stint and then I get tired of playing. At one point, I'd played close to 80 hours in a month. It was taking over nearly every free... Read Full Review
