A beautifully built machine of destruction and things that go boom....
All the basics are still there, the shopkeeper guy, the war room, the campaign, map design, and the versus maps, but now you can customize character colors, which is a nice touch. One of the biggest changes in the game is the added CO powers, which makes the game a lot more interesting and keeps people on their toes. Now, some COs from the original aren't as god-like (EAGLE!)
Only one new unit has been added to the roster, which is surprising, and that is the Neo ("new" in German) tank. It basically just a step up from the Heavy tank and can kick some serious ass. Lastly, there are the two terrain changes, which are the nuclear missile silos and those crazy tunnels. These add to the game play in a serious way. The tunnels adds an impenetrable barrier to hide behind while bashing the opposing team with artillery, with the exception of one weak spot. The nuclear silos are a new type of city terrain, which forces players to race to them before the other team and use them in the most effective way. All these things mesh together easily with the original format of the game and Advance Wars retains it's balance that will surely be beloved by many gamers for generations.
