First war strategy game in a while

User Rating: 9.9 | Advance Wars GBA
First off I’m letting you know I love strategy games and I bought this because it reminded me of “WAR 2410” for the SNES my favorite strategy game ever released in the US…. Ok so you start off by customizing the game by entering your name, from then on everything you do gets recorded under that name and you can earn coins for “BattleMaps” and improve your rank. So from the menu you have……… “Campaign” where the bitter, manipulative war story unfolds in 18 grueling missions! - “new” start a new campaign -“continue” continue from where you left off or last saved “Field Training” this one describes itself “Lessons in the art of war” you earn stuff here too “Vs. Mode” one to four players can play on 1 game system (alternating) you can used your custom maps! “Link Mode” link more then one Game Boy Advance together for multiplayer! -Multi-Pak, link up to 4 players each with a game pak -single-Pak, my fave seeing how no one I know has this but me v_v links 4 players with 1 game pak! -Trade Maps, self explanatory “Design Maps” lets you get out that creative itch and make your own maps! “Battle Maps” use your coins to buy things! “Stats” you get to see how you are doing….. “War Room” practice with a purpose, you fight here, you win more coins and rank without having to play campaign over and over. The Gameplay is very nicely put together, with the easy point click system it’s hard to go wrong. It may be an easy battle system but the game can be slightly tough once and a while. Unfortunately the AI drags down the hard factor…. CO powers were a nice touch, some are better then others…. The sound consists of entertaining music, different for each CO (commanding officer) and nifty sound effects (some kidnapped from Mario Bros.) no letdown here The graphics are great, like playing a top notch SNES game with more memory and sound capability the cutesy units don’t hurt the game at all! The campaign has a good story tied into it which features a war torn world where every faction gets hit at the same time causing a whole new problem. But the odd thing is they got hit by the same enemy at the same time…. Near the end it turns out that it was orchestrated by a robot or alien or some thing but the fights in between are all about vengeance and backstabbing but oddly about friendship and trust too…. And like all Nintendo games it comes to a happy ending ^_^ Now for my 3 pros and 3 cons PROS 1. great turn based strategy war game 2. plenty to unlock gives great single player replay value 3. MULTIPLAYER! Options galore too…. CONS 1. bad AI sometimes steals the fun….. 2. most battles are very lengthy… 3. the COs are way to young to be COs…..
