Advent Rising is just plain fun. It's best described as a third-person Halo, combined with Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and Max Payne. There are a few technical problems: dragging framerates, but they don't make the game unplayable. Sound issues, the ingame chatter from your accompanying aquillians could never be heard it was so quiet, and cutsceens would sometimes be very quiet compared to the volume of the gun and power shots and blasts and explosions. The gameplay is inventive and fun, but almost too easy at times. Once you aquire your powers you become a walking badass. Your only real chance of dying is from enemy swarms or when you are in a vehicle. Otherwise, your energy shields and surge powers will keep you well protected. I would suggest playing it on a harder difficulty setting than normal when you play. The storyline was good, but not particularly well written. Had this story been in the form of a novel it would of been superb. The musical scores were beautiful and well conducted.
