aegis wing is a decent sidescrolling shooter but the real value is in it's multiplayer. if you can snag 4 folks for it.

so aegis wing, reminds me of philosoma, which reminds me of midway 1942, reminds me of triggerheart, reminds me of ikaruga...etc. it's a side scrolling shooter. the design and presentation will not change your life. it's decent for xbla and a fine diversion at first.

now the special weapons in this sci-fi shooter are textbook in some cases and pretty innovative in others. the super shield got my attention. but all this pales in comparison to when you get into the real meat of the game....

multiplayer co-op, is surprisingly well designed and implemented. combo-ing up strategic attacks makes for some satisfying kills and manuevers. it rounds out what might otherwise be little more than a paltry shallow single player campaign.

i could have used a little more base originality right out the gate rather than the carboncopy "bad aliens have come to invade" formula, but aside from the somewhat ailing story (which frankly isn't why you're playing this anyway) it holds up pretty well.

the multiplayer is significant, and definitely justifies adding it to your diversion library.
