While lacking in some areas, this game is still fairly solid and a good play if you're into piloting games.

This game, created by Konami, which, in my opinion, is one of the best companies ever, was the first game I ever got for the playstation 2. Airforce Delta Strike is a solid game with one of the best fighter pilot storylines I've ever seen. However, I don't think that real Air Force pilots would constantly talk in the middle of missions, as well as argue with one another. The characters, while easy to follow story-wise, are always trying to trash talk the enemy each mission, mostly speaking cheesily. I kinda like it, but I don't think that today's, maybe tomorrows, airforce pilots would do that.

The game, considering that I don't think that Konami was aiming for perfectly realistic, has fairly good graphics, but given a little more time, could be much better. The characters outside of battle, while well drawn, probably should be more like real people, rather than just standing there with speech boxes and only three or four stances.

The piloting part of the game is pretty good. Granted that my experience in fighter games and the maneuvers I've learned (which are pretty insane) are limited by the fact that you can't actually roll in Air Force Delta Strike, not to mention that pitching the nose of your craft downward takes much longer than upward, that could be fixed if the roll allowed you to flip upside down and pull up, consequently going downward relative to the ground.

The space missions are just awesome, there's no doubt about it. There's always the thrill of getting blasted out of vacuum or crashing into one of your, or the enemy's, rather small cruisers. The thrill of nearly getting blasted by huge lasers coming from those cruisers. And of course, the thrill of chasing down and blasting freakish enemy craft and Gundam-like armor suits. There's also the thrill of seeing the enemy cruiser tumble through space after you destroy it's essential parts, such as the bridge. Once again, though, even with those coordinator things around the screen that allow you to orient yourself, there's still the trouble of pitching downward relative to your current course, not to mention that your turning's very limited. The final problem with the space missions is the fact that there's really no advantage in the speed of your plane. No, not even Rick the speed freak, AKA Anaconda 3, can outstrip even John the kill freak, AKA Viper 2.

In spite of all its weaknesses, Air Force Delta Strike is an awesome game to get if you think you've played it all and you're looking for more challenging piloting games. just watch the controls.

also, this is my first review, and I don't know if I'm supposed to say it here, but please don't flame me if I screwed up, if you have questions, just email me at zim909@yahoo.com
