Alan Wake is a game about a writer who loses his wife. She disappears from sight. This threat called the Dark Presence has invaded, or whatever, Bright Falls (the town that Alan and his wife Alice go on vacation). So, now Alan is set on an adventure to try to find his wife. Little does he know that all the books that he wrote are coming true so he has to try to find a way to rewrite his story to save Alice. The story is really interesting and suspenseful. It keeps you thinking throughout the game. I think this game will truly be somewhat memorable for its cinematic thriller story. While the story is engaging, the gameplay is also engaging as well. This game has one of the toughest challenges to kill enemies. First, you have to shine your flashlight at the Taken (the Dark Presence) and that will make the darkness leave them and then you have to shoot them with your weapon until they evaporate. The game has a chilling and creepy atmostphere/setting. I highly recommend to play this game at night. Anyways, there are some collectibles throughout the game which will keep you exploring the setting also. There are pages from the book you are writing and you can view in the menu. They're scattered throughout the episodes. There are also coffee thermoses which you can collect. The game consists of 6 episodes and each one will take about 2 hours to finish if you're playing on the normal difficulty. I think the game has fair length. I'm happy that it didn't go any longer, because that would kill the game. The ending is satisying and keeps you thinking about it after you're done. The game also has a brilliant soundtrack with off-the-hook music. I've never seen such great music in a game. In the main menu, you can view the music from the game which is pretty awesome. You can also view your statistics, collectables, your manuscript from your book, and all the cutscenes that you witness throughout the game. While the game failed at having a truly memorable and challenging end boss, the game is still satisying and did not disappoint. I'm just waiting to see if they make a sequel. After the game is over, there really isn't anything else to do. So, i don't know if it's worth your 60 bucks or not. If you're a fan whose been waiting a long time, then buy it. But if you're willing to just try it out and see how good it is, then obviously rent it. After the game is over, you unlock nightmare difficulty which i haven't tried. So, that will give you a challenge and a chance to play the game all over again. There's no multiplayer or second story. There will be DLC. Aside from all that, i don't know about the people that played it, but i will always remember how memorable this game was.
