I had been waiting for this game to be released for five long years, and just like everyone else I was very worried that it was going to flop and be considered one of the biggest duds in gaming history. The fact that the reviewers for this game were giving it merely 7.5's, 8's, and 8.5's, I got a little worried. So when I played through Alan Wake it came to my pleasant surprise that this game was highly underrated and underappreciated. This game turned out to be my favorite campaign/story of all time. I honestly sat on the edge of my seat the entire time that I was playing this game, and I've played it now through twice and I'm on my third run trying to gain all of the collectables. The way that Remedy is able to combine the action in this game with an astounding way of story-telling by breaking the game into different episodes, almost like a TV show, is incredibly captivating. The banter between the characters honestly gave me chills over how realistic the dialogue was. The graphics are just a small bit of what makes you feel like the things in Alan Wake are coming to life and jumping off the screen at you. If I had only one grudge with this game it's that it didn't have some kind of "horde" mode where you battle waves of taken either by yourself or with a partner... I do feel that any type of a versus multiplayer would truly ruin this game. All in all, Alan Wake over took Bioshock as my favorite storyline to a game ever. In this case, Alan Wake garners a 9.5/10 from me.
