Great gameplay, great story, but just a little too hard.

User Rating: 9 | Alan Wake: The Signal X360
"The signal" comes free for those who bought the game new, as you may already know, but i would gladly pay the $7 for it if i didn't get it free. The story is a little confusing and some might say the story doesn't really go anywhere but i think it's an important part of the storyline. It was also very interesting and made me want to keep going to find out what happens next.

The core gameplay is identical to the original game but they change it up forcing you to use many new strategies. For one thing, the focus a lot more on light sources other than your flashlight. Unfortunately, it's also really hard and you may end up getting frustrated and losing focus on the story. Some situations you're in feel like a "cheap" way to make things harder. In my personal opinion, the original game was the perfect difficulty.

They also have 2 new collectibles. Alarm clocks, and cardboard cutouts (or standees, as said in-game) of Alan Wake. Neither of these have anything to do with the story but because of the even more frantic feel of this dlc i wouldn't have it any other way. I was afraid i would miss part of the story because it was hard to look for them. I found out there were no story related collectibles and i was happy.

The environments are much more unique in the dlc and are fun to play on. I can't say much about them without spoiling something so that's all i can really say.
