It's not as deep as Puzzle Quest, but if you like that game go ahead and give this one a try.

Man, Xbox Live is starting to look like Nintendo's WiiWare isn't it. Match 3 puzzlers everywhere. This game is nothing new if you've played Bejeweled or Puzzle Quest. Especially Puzzle Quest because the combat system is very similar. But those points don't make this game any less playable. The whole point to the game is to simply battle your opponent Puzzle Quest style, whether it be the computer (which puts up one hell of a game) or a friend or foe. That's pretty much it.

Graphically, the game looks great. The graphical effects when you match the pieces are done in such a way they spiral out from the point of origin to fill the screen and disappear, but they don't get in the way of the gameplay. The backgrounds look good, and are blurred so as not to distract the player.

The music, while not exactly my cup of tea, works for the game. Giving off a very calm feeling. And if you're like me and don't like it that much, it's not loud enough of pervasive enough to get in the way of playing the game at all. I'm all into calming music, but not this kind. But that's just my personal preference.

The control is, well, I mean you can't really screw up selecting pieces. One thing I do like is the fact that it's more along the lines of mouse control rather than going through and highlighting and selecting pieces with the analog stick. Although I have to say I've gotten used to the "press and hold A, move the piece where you want to go" rather than "press A, then the direction" but that's not really worth complaining about. There really isn't a whole lot to it though. In the single player, you try to beat the computer (I mean try because I have yet to do it lol), or your opponent. You have a certain amount of time to plan your move, if you don't do it you lose your turn and it goes over to the other player. And in playing against the computer, one minute you'll be sitting there sitting pretty with a really high score, then the computer lands a massive combo and just blows you out of the water. And there's also a practice mode where you can get the feel for the game.

Now the bad. One HUGE problem there is with it though is the fact that when there aren't any more moves … it leaves you hanging. It doesn't automatically say "No more moves. Game over" or anything like that. You just have to go in and quit and start over. And while there IS multiplayer for 2 players … there's no Xbox Live support. A game like this would go GREAT over Xbox Live because it's cheap, small, and addicting. And a little bit of originality in the CPU characters would have done a lot with this game … made up fantasy characters or something instead of an Xbox 360 avatar sitting there smiling at you. That's fine in multiplayer, I kind of expect it. But in single player, I wanna be somewhat disconnected from it.

There are a few nagging issues with it. Mainly from lack of modes like Xbox Live play. And especially with that huge problem of when the moves run out. That alone knocked the score down the most. But overall, for 80 points, this is definitely worth getting if you're into games like this.
