Hit off the show perfectly, but just not feeling it as a game...
The show Alias has been a personal favorite of mine forever. Since season 1! And when I heard they were making and releasing a game based on season 1, I was ecstatic. I was so eager to play the game, only to be dissapointed misserably.
It only took a few minutes to actually get into the game, and learn the basic controls and movements, then you were off on a real mission. It was quite easy I might say, to kick the bad guy's butts, which posed no challenge to Halo addicts like myself. Though confused at times with what was going on, didn't paint a very good picture in my mind of the plot, if you know what I mean.
When it came to a cutscene, It was pretty neat seeing how well they constructed Jennifer Garner's character Sydney Bristow into looking almost identical. Michael Vartan's character (Michael Vaughn), on the other hand, wasn't constructed as well. Made a skinny fit man look bulky and over-weight. Disagreed with it muchly. I noticed a few parts of the game where they really got into little details like rock faces, and the leaves of a tree. But sensing they were a little short on budget, most of it was either one solid color, or they tried too hard to make it blend in.
The sound was my favorite, and in my opinion, the best part of the game. Using the actual actresses and actors such as Jennifer Garner, Michael Vartan, Victor Garber, and Kevin Weismen, gave the game an original touch and a sense of familiarity. The grunts when you get hit, and the groans when you knock the bad guy out were also well constructed, and sounded realistic, not like they computerized the sound on a computer.
I wouldn't say the value of the game is all that much. But it is quite close to my own personal xbox :P
Overall, the game wasn't what I hoped for, and in the end was more or less dissapointed, but no biggy, there were a few good kicks out of it!
