Downloaded yesterday for free from Steam. Was initially impressed with the audio/video capabilities for this FREE game. As a nice feature, if you don't like the great ambient music you can run your own MP3 directly in-game (Think: Distrubed Indestructible).
You can run through a practice level offline to iron out the basics and get a feel for some of the team members and weapons. This is highly recommended as noobs will frag you constantly - even on easy difficulty. While the practice level is nice, you are limited to just the first mission so be prepared for new discoveries with your team members.
There are a few different character classes, and these are not to be overlooked. You will need a diverse team to manage each level. Some levels require specfic classes to complete, which means don't run off and leave your tech to die as he hacks a terminal NOOBS!!! Which brings up a point about planning and leadership: you need a cohesive team which means somebody has to take point. The good news is that you can scribble on the in-game map for your team to come up with new strategies on the fly. Strategy is important because welding a door shut can give you and your team a few moments to heal up and prepare for the next wave of flesh-hungry aliens to come bursting in.
Overall, a very well put together game considering the price tag. Get it today soldier!
