Taking place not too long after the depressing ending of AlienĀ³, Aliens Vs. Predator uses almost life like graphics to place characters in fear inducing environments with a variety of enemies. For the most part this is a great game and an impressive remake of the 1998-2000 AVP for PCs; however there are some minor problems. The biggest I found was a glitch in a Predator level where landing in an area will drop you off the map and kill you. With this game your weapons are limited like in the original, but even more limited than in that one and with odd changes to the arsenal. For example, as the Predator, you do not have spear gun or plasma pistol, and you do get a Combi-Stick but it is no longer a melee weapon. Also with the Marine, you can longer just pick up every weapon you find, you can only hold 3: two primaries (Pulse Rifle, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, and/or Flamethrower) and a pistol or a pistol and a smartgun. But this both a good thing and a bad thing, meaning it adds more of a challenge but you'd better decide which is best for you and hope you're right. And finally the Alien, the weakest link. As an Alien you're faster than the other races but you're easier to kill. The only real problem with Alien campaign is the wall walking is difficult. Multiplayer functions pretty much like the average multiplayer mode of anygame today. My only large problem with this game is (SPOILER): During the Predator campaign you have to ditch the classic Predator mask for some weird looking one. All in all this game is worth buying or if you don't feeling paying 59.99 or so, renting and playing all the way through.
