Was totally disappointed with this game, a half-hearted attempt which is in no way comparable to the original AVP

Firstly let me make clear that I am a huge fan of the orignal AVP for the PC. However, the "next-gen remake" of the game is absolutely AWFUL! The storyline itself is lacking in any substance or depth and makes for extremely boring and repetitive gameplay. My favourite part of the game (and not because it was in any way enjoyable) was the first marine level when you find yourself in a club fighting the aliens to the beat of some terrible music and irritating strobe lights. I found myself in absolute stitches at the ridiculousness of the whole thing, but, entertaining for the wrong reasons. There are two basic things wrong with the idea of what is essentially fighting aliens at the disco:

1, WHY, when under attack and after restarting the power would the marines have a rave??? The idea is actually quite offensive! You didn't exactly see Ripley and the colonial marines havin' a wee partaaaaaaay' when fighting the aliens! Aww it actually makes me laugh!

2, WHY ON EARTH did the rave magically restart when You get upstairs??? Crap like that just doesn't happen! Aww again it makes me laugh how ridiculous the story is.

Another thing which really gets on my nerves is how mechancial and buggy the movements of like...every NPC in the game are but that's another story.

The control system again was not very well thought out. It feels extremely mechanical, yet at the same time manages to be annoyingly oversensitive and extremely overcomplicated...I actually didn't think it was possible to incorporate all of those negatives but this game proves that it is...

Before we move on to the multiplayer aspect, let me highlight what is, in my opinion, THE most stupid thing in this entire game...BLOCKING!
In some instances YES I can see where this would/could occur FOR EXAMPLE, a Predator may in some case deflect the attack of an alien with it's claws or spear or something like that BUT...in what universe would a marine be able to block the attack of an alien or predaor...I mean...WHAT WERE THE DEVELOPERS THINKING!?!?! How could an alien, which can pound it's way through solid steel, be blocked by a marine??? It just would not happen! Likewise...it's incredibly stupid when you see an eight foot tall alien running around the map with it's arms crossed like it's in a boxing match! It actually makes me laugh SO much!

BASICALLY what i'm saying is blocking should not be allowed in this game...EVER...

Lastly I shall touch on the multiplayer. In my opinion the multiplayer is extremely limited in every way. There is a very limited number of maps, very limited number of game types and WORST OF ALL, they have incorporated a ranking system with like...no rewards and NO CLASS SYSTEM AT ALL...WHY!?!?!?!

The multiplayer could have had SO MUCH MORE, especially in the way of alternate classes. The orignial AVP had loads of classes to choose from with different strengths, weaknesses and abilities. The remake tries to make up for this with unlockable skins but REALLY what's the point if it doesn't do anything to your abilities? WHY would I want to look like a praetorian when I suck just as much as a bog-standard warrior? Aww frustrating!

Secondly why didn't they incorporate a rewards system??? For example unlocking new weapons, new armour ETC. I would much rather have had to unlock better guns than have to walk around the map looking for them...I mean...it's not as if the predators and marines would throw their weapons out of the window before landing and be like..."yeah this'll be fun lets go find all our weapons cause we're just SO DAMN STUPID..."

Overall I hate this game...I think it should burn...ok maybe a tad harsh...I just think I should remake it because i'd do it SO much better...other than a SLIGHT graphical improvement the new AVP feels if ANYTHING...like a step backwards...seriously bad attempt on the part of the developers, TOTALLY unimaginative, absolute disappointment, i'll leave it there, thanks for reading!
