Alone in the Dark, for what seemed like a very, very long time
Eventually the release date arrived and the game dropped through my letterbox, eagerly i rushed upstairs, threw it into the drive and installed it and settled down for a few hours of spine chilling (excitement) horror. 30 minutes later i was back down stairs making a cupper and wondering were it went wrong, normally, when you sit down to a new game you are pulled in and hooked immediately or maybe it takes half an hour or so but you get a sense of how the game plays and what it will deliver as you play through it, however not with 'Alone in the Dark'. I don't know if it had anything to do with the way the keyboard configuration, how the game handle or just the whole feel but i found i could not get into it. The responsiveness between keyboard and character seemed slow and access to and using of the inventory was fumbling and took time but the worst of it all was the camera which spent more time getting in the way. Unfortunately i soon became frustrated with it and found that after 30 minutes i could no longer carry on playing. My score reflects those long frustrating 30 minutes however if i do return to the game and complete it this may change for the better, or maybe the worst, we will just have to wait and see.
