RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE. . . .

POWER -UP!

Ahem..

This game is a little hard to review since it obviously was the Perfect Dark Zero of Mega Drive (or Genesis, whatever). It was there to show off the graphics and how you could use the awesome Mega Drive engine to the maximum. Whoop-dee-f-ing-doo.

17 years later, what we have here is a pretty sad excuse for a game, I guess the nostalgia factor is all this game has going for it. Not that this factor in particular is too shabby, but still.

In the game you play as random Greek God, or whatever, who is commanded to RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE in the most retarded voice ever heard (well the next-most retarded voice ever heard, more on this later). You are supposed to go on the valiant mission of rescuing someone's daughter! SEGA-Originality, 0-1.

The game plays like the arcade port it is. For you children out there who don't know what an arcade game is, I'll explain. Back in the day people like used to go to a place aptly named 'the Arcade', and put money into games in order to be able to play them. Yes, you heard right, they actually payed for every darn continue, for there was no downloading from Pirate Bay back then. The constant scrolling of the screen is a huge pain in the butt. The controls are so off I don't know where I should go.

Now don't get me wrong, back in the day I was in awe of the graphics in this game, but they really haven't held up with time. They're ugly as hell. Everything from the pink three-headed pigs you fight to the Arnold-esque body your character is given for each miniature Saturnus you eat. After you eat the miniature Saturnus, your character stares at you and says in the most retarded way ever imaginable POWER.. -UP! I don't know about you, but is really small 10-year olds the right demographic for pushing muscles=good onto? I find it quite disturbing, even considering it's only a small detail of this game.

Like i wrote earlier, nostalgia is the only thing this game has going for it today, and it's sort of Catch 22 because if you are like me and played this game back in the day, nostalgia is there but it really has nothing new to offer so I don't even know why you should bother.
