Amazing island is highly recommended to anyone who wants to make their own monster

User Rating: 6.8 | Kaijuu no Shima: Amazing Island GC
Note: For my reviews, 5 is average This game will amaze you, whether you enjoy it or not. The Monster customization is almost impossibly good. Even if you and your friend try as hard as you can to make the exact same monster, you probably won't. You could end up making anything from a twisted monster to a beautiful woman. Yet somehow, it isn't overwhelming. Amazing Island takes place on an island that has been taken over by dark evil blah blah blah...for some reason, this game wants to load it's annoying story into you. When in reality, this is probably one of those games that should have little or no plot. I just wanted to get to the good stuff. And, alas, I didn't right away, because there wasn't really anything I could do besides make a dragon with beetle-skin. But, after a few of the pretty standard and not too special mini-games. I began to find more and more diversity. This 'diversity' ate my soul. I can't really say how much of the time I was playing this game was solely devoted to: "Must...find more...monster crap...must get more...customization..." But I can honestly say it was alot. The minigames are surprisingly challenging and will take up alot of your time if you want to play "Unlock some junk". They can be reasonably fun if you understand them. (but not as fun as watching something you drew walk and talk) The key factor here is: IF you understand them. The game does a very poor job of explaining minigames to you. An average minigame introduction is: "tap A to run, Press B to attack obstacles, try to get as far as you can" Some minigames I played three or four times before I fully understood them. There is a lot of recycling too. There is both a waterskipping minigame, and a water skipping mini-game with obstacles! Odds are, if you've gone through the first two courses, you've probably played 95% of the twist-free minigames. But if you want to find a tongue for your monster, you probably won't care. The game has alot of replay value, if you want to countinue unlocking things even after you beat it, or if you want to countinue making anything to flys into your imagination, it is very rewarding to countinue playing. In fact, most of the game could be considered replay value, because you'll have played pretty much all of the minigames early on. I just made a gerbil with razor-sharp teeth dual-wielding hacksaw blades. And at this point, I am only inspired to countinue forward making anything that appears in my sick mind. Overall, if you're a creative person, you will be very glad you bought Amazing Island. But if you just want to have some traditional fun, than it really wouldn't be a good game to play. Whether or not this game is good, is mostly up to what kind of person you are.
