A horror game that does not bring fear through the supernatural , it brought about fear through the instinct to survive.
This game toys with our mind. It is not a horror of which you can survive in due to the ability to defend yourself , it is a horror you know you can hardly survive in because of the protaginist's incapability as a human.
You have absolutely no means to defend yourself against the foes that you face , other than your wit and your own primal desire to live.
What incurs this will is the fact that the game features simplistic but realistic controls and settings. Dragging the mouse to open and shut doors , realistic strength levels within the protaginist and a first person view interface.
It is further supported by infinite depths of darkness , limited resources , the weak psychology of the protaginist whom loses sanity in darkness and in moments of fear , which results in much negative psychological effects.
This game had brought out the true meaning of a survival horror without using intensive graphics , controls and settings. It is simplistic , yet terrifying in it's own way. The monsters don't look remarkably frightening , but the desire to survive and the fear of death itself keeps the suspense alive and going.
