It could have been much better. It did not use the XBOX's abilities to the fullest.

User Rating: 5.8 | Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding XBOX
GAMEPLAY:
Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding is one of the few XBOX snowboarding games that has ever been made. In this game, you can choose one of three options: quick start, career, or multi-player. The quick start just lets you quickly select a course and practice. The career option is about you being a no-name snowboarder who wants to become a professional. In order to climb up the world ranks, you must complete high score, media score, sponsor, and pro challenges.
The career mode is a very good idea. You have to complete different challenges, and show off your skills to the media. The controls are easy enough to learn, but the game is impossible to defeat in such a small course. You cannot control your balance while grinding, and you have to be in a completely straight position when falling in order to land. Also, there is no way in the world somebody could snowboard up a mountain.
As for the multi-player, there is no split screen. So, the players have to play one at a time. It might be good for the "king of the hill" mode, but it is not worth waiting so long for. Other than that, the gameplay was average.

GRAPHICS:
The graphics of the game were very good, except for some glitches. The players and environment looked as real as the XBOX could make it look. The player's face, clothing, and gears all looked realistic, and the clothing fluttered in the wind. The shadows of objects were long and real, not just a small circle. The snow graphics were incredible, and the trees did not look bad. But, whenever you slide into a log and fall, you get trapped under the snow, inside the log. Besides some minor problems, the graphics were very good.

SOUND:
The sounds of the game were just about as good as the graphics. You can listen to over 150 songs in the game. If you don't like the songs in the game, you can download your own music to listen to. The snowboard sliding sounds were really nicely done, and so were the grinds. But, the media reporters and photographers could at least say something different whenever you fall. They keep repeating themselves, and that can really annoy you. But, the sounds are very nicely done.

VALUE:
Amped really is not a very great game, but it is probably worth about $10 to $15. Even buying it for twenty dollars is worth it, if you like anything about snowboarding. But, it is worth getting it for a cheaper price. I would not really recommend this game, because Amped 2 is probably much better than this game.

TILT:
I would say Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding could have been much better. It seemed as if they really rushed the game and did not check it back. When compared to Amped 2, this really is not that great. If you really like snowboarding, and do not like SSX, maybe you should get Amped. But I would recommend something else, preferably Amped 3 on XBOX 360.
