Underrated racing title...
This game incorporates both stock car (NASCAR) and open wheel (Indy cars) racing series, which allows for a little bit of variety in the career mode. Like current titles, you are initially given a somewhat sub-par performing vehicle in either series, gradually making your way up to getting into familiar-to-the-casual-fan paint schemes and teams.
The graphics in Andretti Racing are quite nice. The driver's hands on the sterring wheel were a nice touch, and though hit detection was a little wonky at times, the damage seemed to look plausible. Even though there are very few real tracks to choose from, the developers did a nice job of incorporating convincing environments with the technology they would ultimately be working with - a young Sony Playstation system.
While there are a few issues with the A.I. at some points, Andretti Racing manages to pull off one of the most fun arcade racers ever based on a real racing series. Any fan of EA's NASCAR or Formula 1 racing franchises would do well to check this game out if they get the opportunity to do so.
