Like any other AC game, City Folk starts you off simple; you ride in the new bus to your new home and start paying for your house. Sounds so appealing, right? Well, it surprisingly is. At first... You start out your journey to debt-free life by working for the ever present Tom Nook. Planting flowers, trees, and the seeds of evil throughout the town, you work for a measly chunk taken out of your debt. Once he let's you go in hopes that you'll actually pay him back, you are left to your own devices. How are you going to pay off your debt? That's your job to figure out. You can do a lot of things to make money; fish, catch bugs, plant and pick fruit, dig up fossils, shake random trees, hit rocks, do jobs, steal from friends, the list goes on. In my opinion the best way is the fruit option, but different strokes for different folks. There's still so much more to do though... decorate your house, make friends in town, visit the city... I could go on. But for some reason, it all feels too... boring. You aren't motivated to do it. The first two AC games were incredibly addictive and fun to play. This one... not so much. It doesn't take too long before the game starts to feel like what it really is, a chore. If you tried to play this game everyday for an hour, you'd get bored of it within two weeks. So much to do... so little want to do it.

That doesn't mean that you can't have fun with it though. If you play the game in short bursts you can have a lot of fun with it. Especially if you have friends to play with. Do a few contests with each other, make up games and stuff like that, and you can probably get a couple of hours out of it before you get bored. Decorating your house is a good way to pass time, but if you are aiming to get high points with the Happy Room Academy, you are going to have to spend immense amounts of time tracking down all the furniture necessary for a set. And once you finally do that... you can't really change it around or else you'll lose your hard earned points. It is great fun to make a cool house though.

There are a bunch of other things that are nice. The city, while small and rather boring, is a good start for the series, and the holidays are back and are fun to take part in. Talking to neighbors and doing jobs or playing games with them is entertaining, and you usually see something new every time you play. If you play the game a few times a week, you can have a fun time.

The graphics don't push anything. There is nothing too special about them but they aren't bad. It's like a mix between the original and Wild World's graphics.

The sounds are the same as you would here in the first two, and it's nice to have background music that plays while you are walking around the town. The ground makes different noises as you walk over it depending on what kind of terrain it is.

All in all, ACCF is a good game in short bursts. If you are easily entertained or like to have a game you can pick up and play for a little bit, this game is for you.

Pros:
Fun in short bursts
Simple enough to pick up and play
Can occasionally be addictive

Cons:
Can get boring easily
Not too many improvements over it's predecessor
