Co Op is broken

Bought this game just so my SO and I could peacefully enjoy a game together. Instead, Nintendo enrages me by deliberately making Co Op non existent. Why aren't you at least allowed to change the resident representative? Or at THE VERY LEAST notify the players what being a resident representative means. Had I known I would be unable to really play Co Op, I would have made my own account the RR. Really just makes no sense to me other than Nintendo wanting to fucking money grab for you to buy another switch and copy of the game. **** all that
