More of the same but it's still a fun game.

As background, I thought Animal Crossing on the Gamecube and the DS were both masterpieces with the DS version being my favourite. I never played the Wii version.

The game is basically the DS version but with more bells and whistles.

There's a few extra things going on, like you being the mayor, more shops, an island you can visit with mini games but at the heart of it, it's still Animal Crossing.

One thing that's not very pleasant about this game is that Nintendo has sort of backdoored a slap on the face to used game buyers. From what I understand, when you buy the game new, you become the mayor and if anyone gets the game after you, you're still the mayor and they're just a citizen. Lame.

If you liked the previous versions of Animal Crossing, getting this game is a no-brainer and for $35.00, you can't beat the value you'll get out of this game. However, if you've played a previous version of Animal Crossing and didn't like the game, this game is not for you.

The 3D is quite nice and this is one of the few 3DS games that I play with the 3D on.

It's not a huge problem and it's not the game's fault, but while playing it on the regular 3DS, you really notice the piss poor battery life of the 3DS. On the DS, I could play Animal Crossing for hours but with this game, after about 3 or 4 hours, your little red light starts to flash and it's time to recharge.

Another quibble, again, it has nothing to do with the game, but the regular 3DS has the power button right next to the start button and if you should by accident press the power button, poof, there goes your last couple hours of play if you haven't been saving the game on a regular basis.

I'm not sure if this game will keep me as hooked as long as the DS version did, but for now, it's quite fun.

If you've never played this type of game, it's a treat. It's peaceful and plays at your pace. If you just want to spend the day fishing, you can do that. You're not shooting anyone in the face or blowing anything up and the most pressure the game comes with is the optional mini games with time limits.

A zen like experience but it's not for everyone. It's for me though and I think it's the bee's knees even though it's a bit of a rehash.
