I really think that Nintendo raises bad choices to an art form these days. This game is a classic example. For whatever reason this game is hopelessly addictive. It has no point - there is really no 'goal' - you just keep developing your character by getting more furniture for you house and acquiring more 'bells' (the games equivalent of money). The game is linked to the date and time of your system - and subsequently different events happen - not just at different times of the year, but different times of the day. This makes the game very compelling to come back to - and keeps it interesting enough for about a years worth of on/off play (Halloween and Christmas are the best). Now, this was all a great deal of fun 600 years ago when Nintendo first released the title. Those of us that got hooked on this game have been basically sitting around waiting for Nintendo to release a sequel. Hell, Halo2 didn't take 4 years to release - why is AC2 taking so long? Well, it seems Nintendo realized the only way to really cash in on AC2 was to make it an online game. But wasn't Nintendo the company that said there was no future in online gaming? In the words of Homer Simpson - D'oh A version of Animal Crossing is slated to be released for the DS in November, and will support - you guessed it - online play. AC is a great game - if you're looking to mow people down with a Tek-9, you probably won't find much here, otherwise - it's a great deal of fun and I can't wait for the DS version!
