The Seinfeld of games.
User Rating: 8.2 | Animal Crossing GC
Animal Crossing is the Seinfeld of games. It's a game about nothing. In Animal Crossing, you live life with animals. You start off by riding to town on a train and are allowed to name your character and town. Animal Crossing is not a good-looking game. It was ported over from the Nintendo 64 and the only things that were improved were the resolution and the frame-rate (and I'm not even 100% sure on that last one). However, Animal Crossing has a lot of stuff for you to do. You can get a job (which is required at the beginning of the game), go fishing, decorate your home, collect fruit from trees, dig up items (sometimes money, which in this game is called 'bells'), send and receive letters, donate stuff to a local museum (in addition to just checking it out), and some other stuff. All in all, Animal Crossing is featured-packed. Sound-wise, just like graphics, the game is not really improved from its Nintendo 64 "brother". The game sounds just like what it is: a 64-bit game on a system capable of much, much more. Animal Crossing has good replay value because of all of the stuff you can do and one other thing: the ability to collect and play several hidden NES games. With the addition of the NES games to the game, Animal Crossing's replay value doesn't really suffer although you will get bored of it time to time. Overall, Animal Crossing is a fun little game. Just don't expect anything "Game of the Year"-worthy.
