Ape Escape is fun for all!
You play as a young boy who wants to catch monkeys in order to save humanity! With the help of a professor, the kid uses different ways and gadgets in order to catch these monkeys. There are different tools, but mainly you are given a lightsaber-look-alike and a net, and you run behind those crazy monkeys!! There are many actions in the game like climbing, swimming, and even... flying! Others tools (named toys in the game) are used to reach places that are hard to reach. The game developers were very creative in the game, as the game brings solid game-play and a very funny game as well.
Game-play = 9/10
Ape Escape is a 3D platformer that used both analogs on the controller, it was one of the first games that required that. It is a very addictive game and innovative.
Controls are on the good side, the game used nearly all the buttons on the controller. But the controls were well planted. Though there are some issues with the controls while swimming, but the player can get over it easily.
There are some difficulties in the camera at certain places but nothing to worry about. But in general, the camera view is great for the 3D platformer.
The game had 20+ levels and in order to finish a level, you need to catch all monkeys in that level! The game is very addictive as you will always want to catch one more monkey!
Overall, the game-play is very entertaining but there are some tiny issues that can be easily ignored.

It's for kids, yeah! But honestly, it's funny!
There was a monkey who lives in a park and was very tired of the way people treated him, and he just found a helmet that turns monkeys to super smart! So he wears that helmet and made a whole lot of other monkeys wear it as well. And then he send the army of monkeys into the professor lab and made them travel back in time to change history! Now I'm not sure whether he wanted people to be slaves for monkeys, or he wanted to erase them! Anyway, he wants to rule over the world!! So you, the kid, is the human savior! Go and catch all those monkeys and stop the big evil monkey! When you catch a monkey... it travels back to the present! OY! Simple and fun, isn't it!?
Graphics = 9/10
Back in its time, the graphics were super! They were very colorful and very attractive. There is nothing to complain about as the characters and monkeys were well animated. The backgrounds were nice and colorful, not detailed much, but it's a PSX game were talking about here.
Bottom line, awesome graphics!

Funny monkey noises! That first on my mind!
Music were techno mostly but always blended and matched well with the actions and environment!
Toys, weapons and tools effects were funny and matched the game very well.
Voice acting was surprising! It was well done, remember it is a PSX game, but the effort in the voice acting here is indeed surprising. Very good.
Lasting = 8/10
A lot of monkeys to catch, and it is a lot of fun. But that's not all! There are mini games as well, like monkey boxing and skiing... etc. So you will play this game even after finishing it, if not going to play it all over again.
Overall = 8.5/10
Ape Escape is a very funny game with solid game-play, colorful graphics, good voice acting and decent music. It is a very addictive tittle and a very good idea!
