Sliding blocks meet Pipe mania

User Rating: 7.5 | Aqueduct IOS
One of my favourite games on the iPhone is Trainyard. So when I read in a review that Aqueduct scratches the same itch as Trainyard, I just had to try it out. And for the most part I think the comparison is fair.

Aqueduct is a stylized version of sliding blocks puzzles with the added twist of Pipe mania. The art style has a distinct flare and the controls are perfect. There's a real nice progression in difficulty but it never gets impossible. Even when you get stuck on a particular puzzle you always have the option of playing one of three unlocked puzzles. This feature and the fact that game saves your progress in each started puzzle, should really become standard for iPhone puzzle games.

The only thing that makes this game just a smidgeon less good than Trainyard is that a few of puzzles becomes more of a chore than an actual puzzle. The solution can be completely obvious, but you still have to make 50+ moves to solve it. Fortunately these puzzles are pretty rare.

All in all I'd say this is one of those "must have" games if you like puzzles on the iPhone.
