worth buying to everyone. my favorite fps, totaly amazing!! a must buy, even if your not a real alien lover!!
It mixes horror with first person shooting, with blood, gore and freaky enemies. The story is about Ethan Cole who is part of this hazmat team. They are sent to area 51 and find spy planes and things like that but the scariest thing is the whole feeling of it. You could get this game without knowing what aliens or mutants are, or not no there will be aliens in this game and be scared to death. You may (and probably will) buy this game knowing there will be aliens and mutants in this game, but somehow they seem to appear more and more evil every time you come across one.
You bring up a real hate for mutants, and work in a team with the other hazmat teams in the game, but at one point you seem to be defeating the mutants in a certain part of the game where there is a window in front of you and your hazmat buddies in the room behind it, you stop and they tell you to come over, you look at the window, when suddenly the window bursts, bulging outwards with blood and gore painted over the glass. You try to get through to them through your radio. You can make out a voice and you crawl into the room, you see your hazmat buddy (this makes you feel safe, in the game), but then he mutates into a mutant monster creature (With screaming and everything).
The whole game makes you feel engaged with the story and really wakes you say “oh crap!!!” when something goes terribly wrong. There are many guns and there is a infection that infects you through the game, and a cure so that you can switch from mutant to human when you want. This is a load of fun you can run around beating up mutants and aliens, whacking them round the face and then switching back to human when you need/want to blow em’ all up with the gun. This makes the game unique and makes players play only area 51 for its unique features.
Area 51 is filled with unique features, some people may love these features, some others may hate them. But one thing I must point out is that you must try them out for yourself. There is no way of telling if you will like/hate them but I hope this review helps you find out if you are an area 51 lover or hater.
Another feature that area 51 has unique to the game is the an/peq-61 “quickfix” scanner. The device in the game known as the “quickfix” is a handheld device that is quite useful for scanning things, opening some doors. It can quickly analize, record and transmit data (and the items/scanned material can be viewed after you have got to the next checkpoint). It is quite a fun tool to use, and sometimes has to be used wile under fire. So it can be quite challenging at points.
The multiplayer is lots of fun, there are arena (quake style) modes that are lots of fun, loads of arenas to choose from and the general deathmatch kind of modes so the multiplayer is good and makes the game playable after you have beaten everything.
Overall area 51 is a truly amazing game. It is unique in many ways and if your looking for a nice little first person shooter then I would suggest picking this game up now. The graphics are good enough (well you can see what’s happening) the sound is fantastic (you really can here the blood splatter)
And gameplay is unique and exiting.
