A great war simulation.

What can I say? I came into this game after a long line of FPS and found the transition difficult at first but with some help from friends on vent I learnt reasonably fast; Still make the occasional stuff up with the functions.

First thing you have to learn with this game is it is a Combat simulation played in the first person perspective - While technically this makes it a first person shooter it is not your conventional shooter and should not be treated like one; You are not a one man army. You must work as a team.

Multiplayer is made up of a few modes - 2 of which I have played extensively; TDM and Co-op (domination). There is also a co-op campaign and what appears to be a front line defense mode.

TDM is basically the same as domination - You capture towns whilst engaging your opponent, This sounds basic but due to the scale of the battlefields your enemy can be and generally is everywhere - Checking your target and not giving away your position is essential in both battlefield and urban combat.

Domination is a co-op mode in which a team of human players works together to capture towns; defend captured towns and complete various side missions to better equip their side - This is by no means a cakewalk, I have been playing this game since shortly after its release and I have finished one match of domination - Which lasted for 8+ hours with a well coordinated team. Some of the side missions have taken us just under an hour with a 5 man squad - Setting up positions, Locating armor, Infantry and our objecting then executing a strike.

Essentially if you are looking at this game I highly recommend you buy it with some friends and look at using ventrilo/teamspeak while playing - I know from experience solo multiplayer isn't fun, being alone on the battlefield is tough. Having a voip program and friends that will look out for you is great fun though, I don't think I have had this much fun in a co-op game for years.

A final note

To all the BF2 players whom own or are thinking of purchasing this game, This blows BF2 out of the water in terms of realism and scale so could you please stop using our choppers to bail out over the hot zones - They don't respawn in 30 seconds on this game.

Furthermore the MHQ is NOT a tank don't treat it like one; Its used to spawn units on the edge of hot zones so we can keep a constant attack in motion - Stop moving it and using the mounted machine guns when bored - Firing them gives off our position.

Apart from that its a great team-based game and anyone who works well in a team should look into it

PS: Yes there are helicopters and jets if you were wondering
