$1 PS3 and Vita game sale on PlayStation Store this weekend

PlayStation Store flash sale drops the prices of more than 30 games.

If you've been hoping to build up your digital PlayStation game library, this weekend should represent a great opportunity to do so. As part of a weekend flash sale, Sony has dropped the prices of more than 30 games for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita--ranging from $6 PlayStation Classics to $20 PS3 games--to $1.

This promotion doesn't require a PlayStation Plus membership or anything of the sort; from now until Monday, April 21 at 7 a.m., everyone is free to take advantage of this $1 deal.

Included in the sale are games like Braid (regularly $15), Tokyo Jungle (regularly $15), Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse (regularly $20), Gotham City Impostors (regularly $15), and Super Stardust HD (regularly $10), as well as a number of PlayStation Classics like Crash Bandicoot, Crash Team Racing, and Spyro the Dragon (all regularly $6).

Well we got it for free as well as Bioshock Infinite, DMC Devil May Cry, Tomb Raider, Batman Arkham City, Remember Me, Payday 2, Metro Last Light, Grid 2 and the XBOX 360 game of the year Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons and that isn't including the free PS Vita games and free PS4 games plus all the other discounts we've got and all this in just the last 5 months.

They should put a disclaimer on games like this stating that in about a month the server is going down and it'll be completely useless and unplayable. Kinda screwing people there.

This particular sale doesn't do anything for me, but Sony is once again showing that they get digital game pricing. Makes me happy because that means that they have a better chance of surviving in the future.

@OneHundredPunks ....No. This is a sale. Look at the original prices. They still charge 5 or more dollars for games that are 10 to 15 years old, on PSN, as a way of profiting off of removing backwards compatibility from the PS3. Many of those games are harder to find or have kept their value over the years if you look for a PSX copy - 60 dollars or more, depending on condition and dealer. If they got digital pricing, these games would permanently be under 5 dollars. As good as Crash Bandicoot is, paying more than 2.50 for it is ridiculous. Even Steam doesn't "get" digital pricing, it's all about sales.

All PS3 systems still supports PSOne disc-based games. Only PS2 backwards compatibility was dropped, in order to reduce the high cost of the system.

@OneHundredPunks @grenadehh $5 isn't bad but don't compare it to $60 if you're talking physical copy vs digital copy. This sale is great imo but grenadehh is right that they need to permanently cut some prices, they're a joke sometimes. e.g. "Madden NFL 11" for the PSP it's $29.99 compare to "Madden NFL 13" PS Vita $19.99.

Sweet. I don't know if I have enough room on my PSVita memory card. Crash Team Racing is probably the one game everyone should get if they don't have it already. Actually, get ALL the Crash games for your Vita if you can. I'm printing this article out now and will go crazy with games when I get home. lol!!
