3DO shrinks losses
The publisher behind the Army Men series of video games posts an increase in revenue.
3DO has reported a 37 percent increase in revenue for the first fiscal quarter. The company attributes the increase to strong sales of its PlayStation 2 games. Despite the increase in revenue, 3DO still posted a loss of $8.6 million for the quarter. 3DO posted a loss of $24.3 million for the same time period last year. PlayStation 2 software accounted for 42 percent of 3DO's revenue, with US sales accounting for 65 percent. International revenue was up 103 percent from the same time period last year.
Shares of 3DO closed up 1.6 percent yesterday and went up another 10 cents in after-hours trading.
