Nintendo today announced that a total of 108 new downloadable holes and additional Mushroom Kingdom golfers will be available for 3DS game Mario Golf: World Tour as DLC.
The add-ons will be released in three separate packs. The Mushroom Pack will be available when Mario Golf: World Tour arrives on May 2, while the Flower Pack arrives later that month, and the Star Pack will round out the add-ons when it hits sometime in June.
Each expansion includes two 18-hole courses and a new playable character. Toadette comes with the Mushroom Pack, Nabbit with the Flower Pack, and Rosaline with the Star Pack. You can buy the expansions separately from within Mario Golf: World Tour for $6 each, or together through a DLC pass for $15.
If you buy the Mario Golf: World Tour season pass, you'll receive all three expansions as soon as they become available, and you'll also get a special Gold Mario character. Gold Mario has a unique Golden Flower shot that gains coins for every yard it travels.
If you don't want to buy the DLC pass, you can still get Gold Mario after all three expansions are released. Nintendo did not, however, say how much you'll need to pay for Gold Mario in this situation.
Finally, Nintendo announced that it will hold special Trial Tournaments inside Mario Golf: World Tour for players who want to try the expansions before they buy them. Each tournament will offer a "sample" of the downloadable courses, and you can even compete against other players in online tournaments.
