9 New Beauty and the Beast Live-Action Movie Images Released
Disney's new Beauty and the Beast comes out in March 2017.
Following the debut image earlier this week, Disney today released a batch of nine pictures from its upcoming Beauty and the Beast live-action movie.
The new images show off Harry Potter alum Emma Watson as Belle and Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens as the Beast. We also see Luke Evans as Gaston, alongside Josh Gad's LeFou. One of the pictures also shows Lumiere (Ewan McGregor), Cogsworth (Ian McKellan), and Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson), while Kevin Kline as Maurice is also on display. Beauty and the Beast comes to theaters on March 17, 2017. Disney has described the film as a "re-telling" of the 1991 animated classic, tailored for a "contemporary audience." It will stay true to the original music, while adding some new tunes as well.
A teaser for the movie was released in May--check it out here. The movie is directed by Bill Condon, who was behind the camera for the final two Twilight movies.
Beauty and the Beast is not the first live-action take on a classic Disney movie, as the company released Maleficent and The Jungle Book in recent years. Disney is also developing live-action versions of Snow White, Mulan, The Lion King, and Aladdin, while a second Jungle Book is also on the way.
