A New River City Girls Game Is In The Works
WayForward's scrolling beat-em-up is coming back for another round, the developer has announced, and it won't just be DLC for the first game.
River City Girls, WayForward's scrolling beat-em-up that updates the River City Ransom series, is getting a follow-up. After Limited Run Games' stream, which revealed physical versions of numerous games on the horizon, WayForward tweeted out about a new River City Girls project being in the works.
WayForward says that they do not have any details to share right now, but there will be updates in the future. However, a follow-up tweet clarified one important detail.
Great news, River City Girls fans! We're thrilled to confirm that, as mentioned on @LimitedRunGames' LRG3 stream, more RCG action is on the way! We don't have any more details to share at this time, but stay tuned for updates in the future! pic.twitter.com/NY66kLl2aa

When asked by one fan if this meant DLC was coming, WayForward responded "It is a separate project, not DLC." The game is listed as River City Girls 0 on Limited Run Games' site, so it's likely a prequel.
The first game was very good, so a follow-up is welcome news. The combat in the original was overseen by Arc System Works.
Back in April, an update to River City Girls added a new secret ending for all players, bringing it in line with the PC version. The first game released on PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
