Acclaim assets go on auction block

Closure comes to a once-mighty game company; assets to be sold to highest bidders in upcoming public auction.

Keen eyes at the Gamasutra Web site have uncovered the latest chapter in Acclaim's ignoble decent into bankruptcy: the December 7 public auction designed to sell off all remaining physical assets once owned by Acclaim Entertainment. Maltz & Co. is handling the auction. A cursory look at what is for sale reveals a company that went out of business in the grandest of style. From antiques, to leather sofas, to top-of-the line kitchen equipment, the company apparently lived large up until the end. For those who seek more than what's available from among the hundreds of chairs, office furnishings, computers, and other assorted office items, there's one additional piece of Acclaim history that will go to the highest bidder as well: the entire 71,000 square foot Acclaim building in Glen Cove, New York.
