Acclaim Talks 2000 Lineup
Acclaim states its plans to release 30 more titles by August and reiterates next-gen console support.
Acclaim Entertainment issued a release on Tuesday stating its release plans through the end of this fiscal year, August 31, 2000. Included in the release were listings of previously unannounced titles such as Bust-A-Move for the Dreamcast and Revolt 2 for the PlayStation and the Game Boy Color.
"We are very excited about our upcoming lineup," said Acclaim cochairman and CEO Greg Fischbach. "Our releases between now and September 'raise the bar' for the gaming community - developers and players - in terms of technology, creativity, and gameplay. Acclaim has one of the broadest portfolios of games that target a wide range of consumers from the hard-core gamer to the casual player."
Acclaim states that it plans to release more than 30 additional titles before the end of its fiscal year. So far, the company has released 22 titles, which will bring the total to more than 50 titles this fiscal year.
Acclaim also commented on the company's strategy of releasing several titles for the launch of each next-generation platform. "Acclaim will continue to support the Sega Dreamcast this fiscal year. In addition to the nine titles already released, eight titles are scheduled by the end of August, 2000," Mr. Fischbach added. "We are continuing to support all the game systems this fiscal year, and at the same time, we are well underway in our development for PlayStation2. We plan to have several titles in the market by Christmas and will be making a more detailed announcement shortly."
