Activision announces fourth Tony Hawk game
Neversoft is working on the next installment in the Tony Hawk franchise.
Activision announced today that the next installment of the Tony Hawk franchise is currently in development by the creator of the series, Neversoft Entertainment. The next game in the Tony Hawk franchise will feature real pro skateboarders and combo-based gameplay like its predecessors, but no other details have been released at this time. When contacted for comment, Activision would only say that the final name of the game and its intended platforms were still being decided.
According to NPD's TRSTS data for the week ending December 8, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is the third-best-selling game for the PlayStation 2 and the fifth-best-selling game for the Nintendo GameCube.
"Video gamers have come to rely on the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series to push the boundaries of what is fun in a video game," stated Larry Goldberg, executive vice president of worldwide studios for Activision. "By taking full advantage of the power and capabilities of the next-generation platforms, the Neversoft team will take the game to an all-new level of interactivity and fun."
The fourth game in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series is currently slated for release in fiscal year 2003. We'll have more information when it becomes available.
