Activision unsheathes Wolverine details

Nooooooo! I jsut went on the Nintendo site for the DS version and they have screen shots for the DS version of X-men Origins Wolverine. They are the worst screenshots I have EVER seen! They make Wolvie look like a dork, not the bad dude he is! They actually did it! They wrecked Wolverine! At least on they did on the DS. I hope the PC version is good! Please, Please let the PC version be good! I hate to have to say it, but Wolverine DS is a total fail! We should have a funeral if the other games are this bad. I don't know for what, though. The Wolverine game or for Activision.

I hope this game is good. Wolverine deserves a really good game. So, did Spider-Man, and most of his games are bad. Hey, you're right jadefury27, Wolvie was in THPS 3. Spidey was in THPS 2. Was there a Marvel character in THPS 1? I liked to skate as Spidey and Wolvie. Wolvie was also in the X-men Legends games (duh, starduke, he is an X-man), which were the predasessors of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I have the second one for PC, and Wolvie's good in that. Not the main character, though. This game is before the X-men, so Wolvie can really be a berserker in this. None of this were're the good guys, so we don't kill kind of stuff. When ever Wolvie's hanging out with the X-men he's pretty tame. Compare the X-men books with him in them to the stand alone Wolvie title. Not the new Old Man Logan storyline, though. The ones before that. He actually kills with his claws! Wolvie is one bad dude.

Hope the ps2 version is decent. I know the ps2 is on its deathbed, but it isn't much to ask for a good version. Fingers crossed

Hey! Another video game based on a movie. Didn't see that coming.

"...with Raven handling the PS3, 360, and PC versions." I think that will be a game much more like The Darkness or "God of War" type. I´ll hope they do a great job even with the schedule delivery so short.

Something with better graphics, better story, and most definitely a better playing mechanic, maybe 3rd person shooter style, would be nice. Just not another overhead dungeon crawler... ============================================== Exactly, Needs to be a over the shoulder 3rd person cam or shooter style like you said. For some reason the games with popular characters from sources outside of games never really get up-close and personal with the main character. And for all the close combat that is sure to be in this game I think that kind of cam would lend to a more visceral feel.

cid_007, awesome! Man I hope this game is good. Movie tie-in games have been really lackluster lately, save for a few. Hopefully this can bust through the sloppy developed mold and be a fantastic game. How hard can it be? It has sweet chops, metal claws and one pissed off man. Sounds like all the makings of a stellar game.

actully there is an old game about wolverine and it was pretty good at his time, maybe this one will be good to, maybe it will come out like iron man or the hulk (sucky) we will have to wait and see...

does anyone else agree they need to make a ballin x-men game like the arcade game from the 90's? i could have played that game forever and it was basic... great melee, each mutant had a special power, and it was fun playing with friends... actually, is that available for any system? even the nes, super new, etc.? i would love to have it and yeah this game will probably blow

movie based videogames for the most part suck because they're usually rushed to coincide with the release of the actual movie. this case will be no different.

I think it's hilarious that they're doing a timed release with the movie when that's exactly what earned this game's predecessors such poor marks.

I'm not going to hold my breath on this game. But I'll keep an eye on it. Wolverine is one of my all time favs from the marvel line up.

@jadefury27: Definitely a matter of quality gameplay here... because otherwise it's just a brawler with claws and healing. Riddick was a great example of how the few special qualities of a character shine most when the emphasis is on quality gameplay and storytelling. Alas... I fear this game is doomed if we pay attention to the history of the franchise.

if activision puts in the amount of time they have to the spider-man series as of late then this should be good. a mix of stealth with bloodthirsty hack n slash will make for a good mix. i'd hate to think that the two best appearences for one of marvels top characters is marvel: ultimate alliance and....tony hawk pro skater 3.

Activision better not screw up this game. But like every game made based from comics and movies it's undoubtedly going to suck. Save X amount of people, smack X amount of baddies blah blah blah.

Damn these games that make me want them. :( its gonna be a shcmity 6 hour game akin to X3 (shudders) but we will buy it because wolverine is cool ass. but its released on everything (i will be checking the sink next may infact) and it wil be 12s and his hardest steel in the world claws, arent gonna cut through hot butter. Dismemberment or no buy. im sick of hack and slashers too so this would want to be like splinter cell, with dismemberment. plox.

YES If you screw up, im gonna fly to wherever Activision's head office is, and punch the CEO in the head!!! This game could rock like mad!!!!!! BUT since its an all platforms, i get the feeling it's going to be a kiddie game and a game made, to make money and nothing else!!! I HOPE IT ROCKS (but past experience tells me it wont)

Please dont screw up. There's lots of potential here, it'd be a shame if they ruin it...

Raven can make good games, but I haven't been impressed for a while.

I'd have more faith in this if Raven had more time to develop it. Movie games should launch with the DVD, not the theatrical release. Fans would rather wait for an awesome game than have a broken one right away. (Not that launching with the DVD helped Superman Returns, but still.)

i hope this is not another X-2 but there is only hope and form what i was reading it dose sound intresting i will be looking forward for more news about it

Yes, unfortunately this will just be like every recent X-Men game, just not that good at all.Well if Raven's making it, there's a much higher chance of it not sucking, but that being said i just don't like the Ultimate Alliance style of X-Men game that much..Movie will certainly be great though.

It's a movie game, man. They're almost as bad as video-game movies. What was the last all-platform movie game that was actually good?

73X, Really? Cuz I recall Call of Duty World at War being one of the best games made.. and it came out for all systems... hmmm?

This game's gonna suck merely because it's going to be released on every platform. If they were going to focus on any one or two platforms I'd have at least a tad of hope for this game.

But I hope they dont base it off the movie maybe something leading up to the movie because have any of you played spiderman 2 the game after seeing the movie god only knows how many times anything to do with the movie you allready know what is gunna happen that is why I like spiderman WOS.

I'm pumped already since Raven's making it. I'm biased because I'm from the Madison area, but they're a great dev and can definitely do the game justice.

I like how people are already dismissing the title because its based off the movie. Game is being developed by Raven Software (X-Men Legends 1 and 2, Marvel: UA, Quake IV, and the upcoming Wolfenstein game). They're a pretty damn good dev, and I'm sure they have the best chance of pulling off a good X-Men game.

I guess you can always hope but this game really has no chance of being decent... Let alone good. Though, I do think a Wolverine game that was done right would sell like hot cakes but to do that someone would have to do like there doing with Batman: Arkham Asylum... Pull the game/licenses away from a movie and let it be developed until it done.

I hope they do this right. Wolverine is my favorite marvel character and the only comic book I still read.

Sabertooth is actually the half-brother. that thing about him being wolverine's dad is i think from a "What-if" comic. There's a couple new comics now that retold Wolverine's backstory with Sabertooth. but beyond that, I'm stoked.

If it has to do with Wolverine I'm buying it , he's the best ! Idon't care what anybody thinks
