Adult Link in Zelda Gaiden?

Is there an adult version of Link in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. We tackle the issue and provide new details.

While looking through the latest information and screenshots of Nintendo's sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, we stumbled across two interesting bits of information. First, Nintendo has renamed the game again, now tentatively calling it The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (as opposed to having the subtitle Mask of the Mujula).

One element from Ocarina of Time that is obviously missing from Majora's Mask thus far is time travel. All the artwork and screenshots of the game show a young Link, and things only an older Link could do, such as using the bow and arrows or riding Epona, can now be done by young Link - somewhat negating the need for an older Link. But one of the screenshots we've previously posted reveals something very interesting. The picture linked above shows what appears to be a mask of the adult Link in the Bottom C item slot. This would make sense and fit with the theme of the game, which has Link collects magical masks that can alter his appearance and give him new powers. Shigeru Miyamoto, who is overseeing the title, commented that he is not sure whether adult Link is in the game. This may indicate a much smaller role for the grown-up version of our hero.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask will require the Expansion Pak when it is released for the N64 on April 27 in Japan and in the fall in the US.
