After Bob Ross, Twitch Hosting 24/7 Julia Child Cooking Show Marathon
All 201 episodes of The French Chef will air non-stop starting later today.
Video streaming platform Twitch is expanding to a new area: Food. The company has announced that all 201 episodes in Julia Child's The French Chef will run on the new Twitch.tv/Food channel non-stop for the next four days. The marathon event will begin at 2 PM PST / 5 PM EST today.

Twitch said in a statement that Child's TV show was a "precursor to the interactive cooking shows prevalent on Twitch. Child also focused on food as a way to build a community in the same way broadcasters on Twitch bond with their audiences."
Twitch is launching the marathon today, March 15, because it is the day of her graduation from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. Child's show originally ran over a ten-year period, from 1963-1973.
After the event ends, Twitch will broadcast The Julia Child Remix -- Keep on Cooking through Twitch.tv/Food (see it below). The content comes by way of a partnership with PBS Digital Studios.
"The cooking community on Twitch Creative has taken off with a lot of passionate chefs eager to showcase their culinary skills to a live interactive audience," Twitch creative head Bill Morrier said. "Julia Child was the precursor to Twitch's social cooking movement, making The French Chef show a great reminder about how visionary she was. To put it in terms our community can relate to, Bob Ross is the Julia Child of painting."
Twitch's Food channel will begin with Julia Child, but in the future, Twitch will host other cooking-related shows through it. There are already a number of cooking programs on Twitch, including CookingForNoobs.
The site's Bob Ross marathon back in October was such a huge hit that Twitch decided to bring back The Joy of Painting every Monday for a regular series.
