Techland is launching a Dying Light demo now, six months and 5 million sales after the game's release in January, because demand remains "high" and a demo may help sales only increase further.
"With the demand for Dying Light still high after more than half a year on the market, we wondered what else we could do to help players decide which game to buy," Tymon Smektała said in a statement. "Then we thought: demos were pretty much a standard in the previous generation, but suddenly they've become few and far between. So we decided to use some of our resources to release a demo now and let everyone experience our game first-hand."
Techland is now working on Dying Light's major expansion, The Following, which introduces vehicles, as well as a new map and progression system. The developer recently published a 15-minute gameplay demo for the expansion, which is free for season pass owners and costs $15 for everyone else. A release date for The Following has not been announced.
Looking beyond that, Techland says it has ambitious ideas for a Dying Light sequel.
