Ahead Of Nioh 2's Release, Nioh: Complete Edition Gets Incredible Discount On Steam
Nioh's Complete Edition contains all three expansions and is on sale for $15 on PC via Steam.
We're just one week away from the PS4 release of Nioh 2, the sequel to Team Ninja's engrossing 2017 action-RPG. If you haven't played the original yet, PC players can pick up Nioh's Complete Edition for 70% off at Steam until March 9, dropping the price from $50 to $15. That's an incredible deal for a package that's brimming with engaging, challenging content.
The Complete Edition comes with Nioh's three story expansions: Dragon of the North, Defiant Honor, and Bloodshed's End. Each expansion contains new story campaigns and opens up previously unexplored regions in Japan circa 1600, adding hours of new content to an adventure that already clocks in north of 50 hours. PC players also get the exclusive Dharmachakra Kabuto helmet to wear in-game. The Complete Edition isn't on sale on PS4, but you grab the base game for $14.88 at Amazon (was $20).
For those unfamiliar with the surprise 2017 hit, Nioh is likely to appeal to fans of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, but it's far more than a From Software imitation. You play as an Irishman named William who comes to Japan during the tail-end of the Sengoku period and is trained in the ways of the samurai. Nioh's fast-paced, brutal combat is a thrill whether you're fighting enemy factions or the supernatural Yokai monsters. With a wealth of customization options, Nioh never grows stale despite its length.
In GameSpot's Nioh review, the game earned a "superb" 9/10 for its clever take on Dark Souls combat, well-rendered Japanese setting, and emphasis on exploration. "Nioh's most invigorating and intimidating moments occur when you feel you're at equal footing with your opponent. And it's during these encounters that one careless move can result in your demise or the right string of thoughtful actions can make you feel invincible," we wrote.
Unfortunately, just like the original, PC players will have to wait to get their hands on Nioh 2, which is a timed-exclusive on PS4 and won't launch on PC until November. We had the chance to preview Nioh 2--which is actually a prequel--last month and found that while it's pretty similar to the first game, the new customization options, such as Yokai abilities, spice up the combat.
