Alan Wake 2 Lake House Expansion Release Date Arrives Before Halloween

Players will return to Bright Falls to investigate the mysterious Lake House hinted at in the base game.

Alan Wake 2 was previously announced to be expanded on in the form of two expansions, one of which--the genre-bending Night Springs expansion--launched in June. Now, from the virtual stage of the September 2024 State of Play, we know when to expect the second part of that announcement. The Lake House expansion arrives in October, though no exact date was yet mentioned.

The Night Springs expansion is centered around a Federal Bureau of Control research center that was set up and subsequently fell into disarray and gated off from the rest of Bright Falls before the events of Alan Wake 2. Several in-game notes and bits of dialogue hint about what happened there, though it's currently one of several lingering mysteries its obsessive community is waiting to understand.

Now Playing: Alan Wake 2 - Lake House Expansion Trailer | State of Play

Judging by the trailer, this could be the darkest chapter of Alan Wake 2 yet, which makes its pre-Halloween launch date well-timed.

The new trailer features the voice of Special Agent Estevez, which seems to suggest players will take control of yet another new playable character--though given how weird this game gets, we can't be sure just yet, especially after the Night Springs expansion.

The expansions for Alan Wake 2 are only available as a bundle, either with the Deluxe Edition of the game or with the Deluxe Edition upgrade sold separately for players who already own the base game.
